Downsizing or upsizing is a useful label, but it does not explain what you need a home to do. Start with an ordinary day.
What works in your current home? What is difficult? Think about stairs, storage, maintenance, visitors, work space, outdoor space, and the places you travel most often. Separate the things you need from the things you would enjoy.
Then consider the move itself. What needs to happen first? What would you keep, give away, or replace? How much uncertainty can your timing comfortably absorb? Bring those questions into a conversation before focusing on a particular address.
A clear picture of daily life helps us compare homes with a purpose. The goal is a home that supports your next chapter—not simply a different room count.
