The Davis Food Co-op began in 1972 and has grown into a community-owned grocery that is open to everyone. It is one of those Davis institutions where shopping, local food, and community history overlap.
My connection to the Co-op is personal. My grandmother was one of its original members in the 1970s, and I still shop there today. That continuity means something to me: the places that help a town feel like home are often the places families return to across generations.
Whether you are new to Davis or have lived here for years, the Co-op is worth knowing—not only for groceries, but as part of the community’s story.
